L has to write sentences for homework. Because he doesn't like hand-writing he types them into a Google doc. I review them on my screen once he's done writing them. So we're sitting back-to-back in the computer room and talking to each other, but he writes "Thanks!" using the Google docs comment mechanism.

Apple... tree... plop.

When I got my first email address (at MassArt) I had a chat with the guy in charge of the college's networking. (Back then, it wasn't worthy of its own department yet -- maybe 100 people had accounts.) He told of a scientist who wouldn't get up to walk three doors down the hall, but would just send an email. It seemed so foreign to me until I worked in a cube farm years later, and realized how much it made sense.
