Graydon Carter has a nice memoriam up for Hitchens over at Vanity Fair. I mostly read Hitchens through the Atlantic, Harper's, and sometimes Slate. He was interesting, infuriating, and intense to read in approximately equal measure. He will be sorely missed.

A great writer. My favorite piece is his reflection on the death of an Army officer who'd been persuaded to join by Hitch's advocacy of overthrowing Saddam. Very moving.

Yes, "interesting, infuriating, and intense" but at times also glib and smug, but he was a fine prose stylist and always an engaging read.
