(Since it's someone else's meme I'm playing by their rules. Feel free to play along or not)
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better. If I already know you well, expect the questions may be a little more intimate!
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Tamidon's questions
1:Have your politics changed much since you were 21?

My political consciousness was definitely formed watching the Watergate hearings with my mother. My first-ever political contribution was to John Anderson's campaign, not particularly because I expected him to win but because I believe both the major political parties are fundamentally corrupt and incapable of extricating themselves from the morass of money and influence that causes them to represent their paymasters and not people. I don't think a third party would avoid this problem, but I do think having viable third and fourth parties in America would spread out the problem more thinly and allow more options for voters. I also think that there should be a law requiring "none of the above" be present on every ballot and if NOTA wins all parties are required to rerun new candidates.

So, no, I guess it hasn't changed that much. I'm still a flaming liberal, a card-carrying ACLU civil rights absolutist who at base believes that if government cannot manage to be "of the people" or "by the people" then it damned well better be "for the people" or we should get rid of it.

2:Ever going to have pets again?

That's the theory. The theory depends on having a space big enough for one, though. Dog is top of the list.

3:What's your favorite food memory as a kid

I'd have to say it's mostly a people memory... my mother's mother always used to have (and let us eat) egg bagels with orange marmalade. Obviously the sweet appealed to kids, but the combination became associated with Grammy because we didn't have either of those things except at her house. I remember the sticky and the consistency of the bagel more than I remember the flavor.

4:As an adult?

That's even tougher. There are a couple of restaurant stories I like to tell because they're funny. There was the night in Montreal when Pygment and I had a long dinner in a grotto restaurant, being flirted with outrageously by the flamboyant waiter. Lobster fra diavlo and a bottle of wine. And somehow we managed to stagger out and find the dessert place, still open after midnight, to finish off with two (of their eight possible) amazing chocolate dessert things.

I'm also tempted to say "food trucks." That's a very contextual memory, getting food from the MIT trucks and sitting in the glass-lined corridor between 66 and 56, eating my whatever-it-was, feeling the sun warming me.

5:Where have you never traveled to that you really want to

At least half a dozen places pop to mind. Top of the list would probably be Scotland (Glasgow, Edinborough and the countryside) followed by the south of France and Tokyo/Mount Fuji. Australia is still in there, and yes I still want to get to Las Vegas at some point. I'd like to take a cruise up to Alaska to see the glaciers while it's still possible.
