The self-proclaimed "liberal blogosphere" is uniting to "drop cash" for hurricane relief.

My workplace is once again matching donations sent directly to the Red Cross. I urge you, especially if you work for a big company, to contact your HR department and see about opportunities to double the dollars you can give.
The Red Cross has begun running training sessions for volunteers. I've seen news postings for trainings across the country. Given that most of my readers are in the Northeast US, I highlight two local items:
The Boston chapter of the Red Cross will conduct volunteer training on Saturday. However, those interested must call before attending.
Call 617-375-0700, and follow the prompts for hurricane assistance by dialing extension 480.
The American Red Cross Great Bay Chapter (serving New Hampshire and Maine) is seeking to recruit and train new volunteers Saturday, Sept. 3, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in Newington, N.H. Learn to distribute water, manage shelters, and assist staff members. Trainees will be placed on a call list to assist Katrina efforts.
