Sick and damaged
Nov. 28th, 2012 11:28 amWas sneezing up a storm at work yesterday. Should've gone home mid-day but was so brain-dead and focused it just didn't occur to me. I was staring at my screen and sort of drooling into my keyboard around 5:20 when the boss left and shook me out of my lethargy. "Oh, right. Home. Should do that."
Home was miserable. I was the Niagra Falls of snot and my face felt like it was being constantly punched. Couldn't stay warm enough or cool enough. I was so brain-dead I fell asleep on the couch while still trying to think of how to arrange the sheet and blanket. Woke up freezing and thought "hunh, I never did manage to cover myself properly." Fixed that, passed out again. I think I slept for a total of about 7 hours with brief wake-ups.
Still at home today, though feeling considerably less face-punched. Still pushing fluids.
Also home is Thing 1, who may have caught
taura_g's sleeping sickness. He worked all night on homework, went to bed promptly and just couldn't get up this AM. He is just now coming downstairs, which makes for about 14 hours of sleeping in a row. I'm glad I trusted my instincts and didn't try to insist he get up at 6:45 this AM, which he normally would have to do. ETA: he seems pretty chipper so maybe it's just exhaustion.
Last Tuesday's accident apparently did more damage to the car than I had thought. The body shop peeled off the bumper and interior paneling and there's a definite kink in the frame on the back left side. Should be repairable, though. My poor car looks so sad all stripped apart. Yesterday AM I went in and did the walk-around with the body shop guy then signed the paperwork. They've ordered parts and Liberty Mutual will be sending someone out to verify the inspection and complete the appraisal.
There's a theory I might have the car back as early as Friday but next week seems more realistic. Still could've been a lot worse.

I think everyone slept in this morning. Our whole house did, at least.
