Wild Thing no more

It was announced last night that Reg Presley had lost his battle with lung cancer. He was age 71.

Today he and the Troggs are mostly unremembered, though their cover of "Wild Thing" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m10Ypl2pDA) brought them a lot of attention back in the day. The Troggs were another of those acts most people haven't heard of but were a huge influence on people you have heard of, including Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen, REM, and really every single punk-rock act from the Sex Pistols and the Clash on down who heard that three-chord guitar line and thought "Hell yeah, I can do that."

NPR did a nice bit on his passing. Apparently when his wife heard the cover of Wild Thing for the first time, she burst into tears and exclaimed that it was dreadful and would never sell.
