http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theeditors/ - BBC journalist Alan Johnston starts his second month of "disappearance". At best we hope he has been kidnapped and is still alive, though no one has claimed responsibility for his vanishing and there doesn't seem to be anyone with whom to negotiate his release.

interesting, that left out or is it in a different report the amnesty international report on U.S. prisons. It was horrifying to hear the level of torture and abuse. One of the key issues was that with the "war on drugs" putting more and more nonviolent, offenders, in many cases women, in prisons a situation where women were pregnant while incarcerated was occurring. In some cases restraints being used while women went into labor.

I'm not sure if it was 2005 or 2004 but it was a pretty hard read.
