According to Wikipedia (which we all know is the final arbiter of correctness of everything) it's a real thing and was actually used by the Mughal Empire.
That is insanely awesome and I cannot wait to purchase one. Although I will disarm the cannon and use it as a planter. I think trailing clematis would complement the camel well, especially if I get a lighter-colored one.
