Some of the numbers are just silly, like computing the number of millenia one could employ Dice-K at his present salary. Some of it is eye-opening, like noting we could have converted every car in the US to run on E-85 ethanol for much less than this war has cost.

But when I got to the bit where they estimate that for the cost of this war we could have fed and educated the world's poor for five and a half years... I just cried.

I will point out the feed/educate costs are probably underestimated. After you figure in the graft/corruption that will be skimmed off by the various governments in many of these third-world nations, the costs will be quite a bit higher.

Still...yeah, the pure financial costs of this war have been stupid.

This is just one more indication that we can afford to feed and educate every child in the world, relatively easily, without much impact on our own lives. We just don't choose to do it.

Yeah, I had these numbers shown to me when I was in school. It's been part of my rant any time someone brings up the war to me.
