If you know the name "weev" and do not know who Kathy Sierra is, you really should read this. Ms. Sierra was one of the earliest victims of massive Internet harassment, verbal abuse, doxing, and threats. She's back, telling her story and her story needs to be heard.

Her abusers have held the microphone for a long time - years - and have shaped the narrative and memory of what happened. If you care about this sort of thing, consider reposting this link where others can read it.

I hate that I'm pedantic enough that I keep wanting to point out that they used Flavor Aid and not Kool-Aid. But I'm pointing it out anyway.

That's a good article. I'm glad she's writing about it. Weev is a horrible human being, and I'm glad he's now visually advertising it with his new Nazi tattoo.

I remember her as a helpful presence on Java Ranch back when I was hanging out there.

I'd never heard of him before this post, but after reading the Wikipedia description of weev, I'd say he is suffering from a serious undiagnosed mental illness.

(and, yeah, met weev in person once. He struck me as being hyper-observant, very intelligent, and something about him gave me the cold shivers…)
