license plate mystery du jour

When stuck in traffic one has lots of time to contemplate the plates of cars. This one baffled me:
W8Z8C8

W8 is probably "Wait"
Z8 - ??
C8 might be "Kate" (Cate? Cait? Why not K8?)

I assume it wasn't a small BMW convertible?

No, it was a type of hatchback I didn't recognize. I thought it was a Subaru at first, but the shape was wrong. In the old days I would've called it a 'station wagon' but definitely not a BMW.
