Today is my mother's birthday.
Except it isn't, anymore. It's an anniversary
of a day she didn't care all that much about.
I got my lack of caring-about-it from her.
Some years she was surprised I called her
on her birthday. Some years she sent me a card
on mine.
That's all.
Today is just a day like days before it
and like some days to come.
