Help me dear listeners. I am certain I've heard the vocals/song/voice before but it's eluding me entirely. I can't even be certain what the native language is, beyond feeling like it's one of the Norse family (or maybe Celtic, but I think not).

Anyway, here's the track (Timmy Trumpet - Oracle)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoUCIvbUQHI

I got it out of another of the Ummet Ozcan Innerstate mixes (https://soundcloud.com/innerstateradio/ummet-ozcan-presents-innerstate-ep-113) which is OK overall but this track is so different it grabbed my attention.

I have lots more music to post but this mystery has been bugging me enough that I wanted to pull it out.

It's mouth music; I am pretty sure it's Gaelic; I have also heard it. I'll get back to you.

[edit] It's "Bòg A'Lochain." I thought it was something I owned; it is, although the version I know has a different time signature altogether. It's a strathspey.

[edit edit] Here's a version with a closer speed and rhythm to the sample.

That's amazeballs. Thank you!

You're welcome! It was familiar enough that I just ran through all the mouth music on my computer and presently came up with Mary Jane Lamond. I don't know who sings the version sampled by Timmy Trumpet for "Oracle," but you might be able to find it by listening to a lot of different recordings on the internet.

I was unconvinced by the second link, but skipping forward to about 1:40 I can see what you mean.

The lyrics are the same and the melody just unwound a little and slowed down, but that's why I included the second recording.

but it's a BIG sample if so. More like a mash-up.

It sounds like two samples at most to me—the clearly intelligible words at the beginning are just the first verse of "Bòg A’Lochain" looped and the second vocal phrase is also a repeating segment that just gets more electronic manipulation than the first. It's conceivable that it comes from a different song rather than the same performance, although it's the same singer. I was reminded of the repeated use of the first verse of "Da li znaeš, mila majko" in Deep Forest and Peter Gabriel's "While the Earth Sleeps." It's the spine of the song, but it's just about the same sixteen seconds over and over again.

Yep, Sovay's got it. It's Scots Gaelic.
