Well, at least I have more data now, though I'm not super happy about the situation.

The internalization of the urostomy (that is, removing the external drain and letting the stent be the sole passage out) is now scheduled for Thursday. Downside is that I have to deal with the external crap for two more days. Upside is that Pygment normally takes Thursdays off anyway so scrambling for rides home isn't a thing anymore.

I managed to work about 3/5 of a day today and hope to do the same tomorrow. Thursday I'll WFH in the morning then go in around noon. They say it'll just be an hour plus recovery. We all know how THAT went last time so we'll see.

I've also managed to touch base with the urologist and sorted out a couple things. First, I was incorrect in my incident report writeup. Pygment (who was not recovering from anesthesia at the time) had the right memory that the ureteral hole was caused by the doc trying to get the stent guide wire past the stone. Not super-happy about this but it's a known risk so there we go.

The doc would like a minimum of 30 days for things to heal before trying again to remove the stone. I have a work trip scheduled for the week of June 18th and I'd rather not risk that so likely we'll try again afterward. Depending on schedules that may be after July 4. I've confirmed that I can do things like fly in pressurized jets with this in place and that I can take as long as 90 days before we start worrying about the stent having to come out. So if I go 7-10 weeks that's just fine.

I mean, it's freaking annoying having a thing poking my bladder and making me think I need to pee every 15 minutes but it beats where I'm at now and having an actual plan beats all holy heck of out of the uncertainty.

Sorry to have been right, but that is what you wanted me there for.

Love you. Glad I can be there for you Thursday.

Sorry to hear this is dragging on and on for you! Geeze, July is a long time from now.

You might want to carry some kind of Medical Alert card or something on your trip, so if you pass out on the plane or whatever, helpers will have a clue about what the problem is.

I'm sorry. Bodies are the worst, except when they're the best.
