A lovely tribute and a little retrospective on the musical career of George Clinton, correctly described as "...one of the most important musical figures in American history."
I am simultaneously sad that he is retiring, glad that he gets to retire on his own terms and while he can still enjoy a retirement, and more grateful than I can express for everything he and his crew brought into my life over the many decades since I first heard about the mothership.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8ub_EX6jWU - from the rework album mentioned in the story. Good strong original deep funk.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyAEUWJlk1Q - Atomic Dog, probably his most accessible pop tune. I've loved the audience participation version of this at every show.
