Having placed all the other things in the other post, this will be a collection of ... well, mostly house. But not entirely. If you're not in the mood for house you might want to skip to the end.

http://www.djsteveboy.com/manyhouses.html
First up, DJ Steveboy offers an hour-long sampler of some of his favorite house styles. There's prog and electro and deep all mixed in here. It's a fun mix, though I didn't pick out any specific tracks as particular stand-outs. It did inspire me to find some other things, which I've collected into the links below.

https://soundcloud.com/tommiesunshine/the-chainsmokers-new-york-city-tommie-sunshine-apax-remix
Tommie Sunshine gives us his remix of The Chainsmokers' "New York City". I liked the original (https://soundcloud.com/thechainsmokers/new-york-city) when it came out last year but I thought it was kind of repetitive in the middle. This remix is less repetitive and more dance-y.

https://soundcloud.com/gvrv-747544598/gvrv-i-feel-love
Ah, the queen of disco. GVRV's "I Feel Love" is a very standard house take on the track, kind of. It doesn't use as many elements of the original as one would like, but it's a good try.

https://soundcloud.com/pbhandjackshizzle/alan-walker-faded-pbh-jack-shizzle-remix
Another straight-up house dancer from PBH & Jack Shizzle, remixing Alan Walker's "Faded" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60ItHLz5WEA). The original is a female-vocal-and-piano pop track with glitch electronica wrapped up in heavy production values. Despite the massive autotune it's not a bad track. Likewise the remix is not bad if you're in the mood for some straight-up house.

https://soundcloud.com/jenergy6/ec-twins-compass-djenergy
Still in the classic house vein, but with better vocals (I think) is Djenergy's "Compass", a remix of the EC Twins track (http://www.blackholerecordings.com/music/albums/ec-twins-compass/). The original is a feel-good dance banger - the remix keeps the power vocals but puts it over more thumpy beat lines and electro sounds. Both are not bad if you're in the mood for that sort of thing.

OK so I promised you all one thing that wasn't house and here it is. An utterly hard-rocking turbofunk track from Msystem. This has so many good chair-dancing things about it I had to include it. It's fast, hot, good horns, funky beats, and bad-ass stuttering electro-funk. What more do you want?

I have a bunch of tabs that were set aside for me to write last week's "Alien Invasion" post. In case you're not one of those that reads comments (and why should you?) I wanted to start off by reposting a Burning Man set posted there by [livejournal.com profile] rednikki:

https://soundcloud.com/chrnik/chrnik-charlie-the-unicorn-burning-man-2015
CHRNIK's set has a lot of fun tracks in it, drawing heavily on 70s and 80s pop tunes that you will recognize. I'd love to get a setlist for this so I could find some of the individual tracks. It's generally light dance-house-pop mash style with no great highlights, but playing "spot the sample" is fun because really some of those bits are all but burned into my neural pathways. I suggest you listen all the way through at some point, if only to get to the updated "Poppa Was A Rolling Stone", which is hands-down my favorite Temptations track.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gITEyN005qw&feature=youtu.be
Speaking of favorite tracks, I think I've already mentioned that I really like the new Abney Park (which landed early this month - you should order a copy). This here is their take on "Minnie the Moocher", a Cab Calloway classic. Back in the day I was deeply indebted to John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd for bringing Cab back to the screen to do this track in Blue's Brothers. Nowadays you can find restored versions of original performances on YouTube and I recommend you do so. Abney Park doesn't have the scat vocals or Cab's voice but they do a decent job, particularly with the horn parts. It was written as a big band tune and that sound is hard to get with modern smaller groups.

https://soundcloud.com/pieeyedpiper/one-more-telephone-lady-gaga-vs-maroon-5
Returning to mash-up land, we have someone going as The PieEyedPiper doing a standard but fun A|B mash between Gaga's "Telephone" and Maroon 5's "One More Night." I am reasonably fond of both source tracks and I think the mash improves on both in a couple ways, which is what I look for in most A|B's.

https://soundcloud.com/hotelgarudamusic/kiiara-feels-hotel-garuda-remix-1
https://soundcloud.com/kiiaraonline/feels
Hotel Garuda brings us their mix of kiiara's "Feels". I had not noticed the original though now that I've listened to it I'm pretty sure I've heard it sampled here and there in the past couple months. kiiara's voice is ideally suited to this kind of gentle in-your-ear sound. She's half-singing, half-rapping about emotion and the melancholy of her voice covers a lot. Unfortunately the track is pretty highly produced - an acoustic of this would be amazing. There are a ton of mixes out there you can listen to; I picked the Garuda version in part because of the way it strips down and downplays the dense production sound of the original and lets her voice carry more of the track. Where the remix falls down, imo, is in the middle where there's a lot of excess electronica shoved in. It feels forced and it's a relief when that drops out for the second half.

https://soundcloud.com/ghettofunk/megan-hamilton-the-bermudas-revolution
https://ghettofunk.bandcamp.com/album/ghetto-funk-presents-megan-hamilton-the-bermudas-gfpd22
It's been a bit since I posted some funk for your enjoyment so here let's start with "Revolution" from Megan Hamilton & The Bermudas. This one is a lovely throwback to 60's and 70's styles but updated and sped up to modern club speeds. I have to mention that if you go to the second link you can get the entire EP at whatever price you want to pay, which is just an absolute steal. I love the fast-rapping vocals and the phat horns and I hope you will, too.

https://soundcloud.com/bodyheatmusic/msystem-workout
Msystem returns with another extremely electro-funky tech-house track. "Workout" is definitely pitched at the high-BPM crowd, which is just fine if you want to get up and move, or do a little (ok a lot of) chair dancing. As with so many of these things my biggest complaint is that the track is too short.

LJ says it's only been about three weeks since I posted music but it has felt like longer. Right now it's on my mind a lot because the latest round of sound driver updates to my home Realtek sound engine hosed the speakers. I can get sound via headphones but I can't use my PC to play music to the room anymore. Grr. Still, I have tabs and will share them.

https://soundcloud.com/divideandkreate/echosmith-cool-kids-divide-kreate-remix
Divide & Kreate remixes the extremely popular indie pop hit "Cool Kids" from a couple years ago. D&K has spiced it up a little and made it beat faster but it still has the essential spare sound of the original.

https://soundcloud.com/gldncollective/romance
Following on [livejournal.com profile] mizarchivist's original pointer I continue to find Tove Lo mixes. This one is Flipboitamidies doing an A|B with clean bandit, a rather unusual UK duo (http://cleanbandit.co.uk/). The mix is OK - better than most of the Tove Lo mashes I'm coming across - but I'm actually more intrested in the discovery of clean bandit. I love you, so I share.

https://soundcloud.com/fissunix/5-deaths-of-king-kong
This one keeps coming up in my stream and I'm still not entirely sure if I like it, but it's an interestingly original idea. Fissunix is A|B mashing Mano Negra and The Prodigy. Most Prodigy mixes tend to use things I don't like - this one is "Wall of Death" which I think has the best sort of energy that Prodigy produces. And Mano Negra gets mashed up approximately never, so here you go.

https://soundcloud.com/mashupgermany/mashup-germany-cheerleader-freaks
Mashup Germany again, with a really nice five-way mix of tracks I'm not familiar with. It fronts Timmy Trumpet and I loves me some brass horns so that's nice. I think the vocals work less well than they might, but perhaps I have too high an expectation of what M.G. can do. From anyone else this would be an excellent track - for him it's just average but the track radiates a kind of fun joy that makes it infectious.

--- We now enter the Ummet Ozcan zone ---

https://soundcloud.com/djphase/zedd-ft-selena-gomez-vs-ummet-ozcan-i-want-daftizer-to-know-phase-bootleg
Someone going by djPhase has mashed up an Ummet Ozcan track that I think is his super-popular "Daftizer" (https://soundcloud.com/ummetozcan/daftizerfree) with Zedd's "I Want You to Know", which features the vocals and (ahem) appearance of Selena Gomez. Yes, THAT Selena Gomez, who is now all growed up (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X46t8ZFqUB4) and who's doing a respectable job of turning her childhood Nickelodeon image into an adult singing/acting career. Of the three tracks I think I like the Zedd original best, but that might be influenced by watching the video.

https://soundcloud.com/ultrarecords/02-double-exposure-my-love-is
Msystem's remix of Double Exposure's "My Love is Free". It's definitely an electro-dance track, but it draws on soul and disco roots heavily. I picked it out because it features Double Exposure's all-male vocals in a genre that often fronts female vocalists.

https://soundcloud.com/ummetozcan/ummet-ozcan-presents-innerstate-ep-33
Another episode of Ozcan's "Innerstate" pod/setcast. This one has a lot of really nice tracks in it, of which I picked two to feature because they spoke to me particularly.

https://soundcloud.com/nathanc/nathan-c-felix-leiter-this-is-our-night-preview
Nathan C and Feliz Leiter do a trance track that starts out mostly instrumental and then brings in "This Is Our Night" by Sander Kleinberg (http://www.vevo.com/watch/sander-kleinenberg/TION-(This-is-Our-Night)/NLL331100021). This is a track I heard many years ago and had almost completely forgotten about. Then it showed up this rework and I was like, "wait, I know that..." This version is much more high energy, higher BPM and more electro than the original but it's really nice to hear an old favorite getting some new life.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sH51g1L0i14
Saving the best for last, here's some truly superb vocal trance from Killogy. "Awake" is a showcase for singer-songwriter Angelika Vee (http://angelikavee.com/) whose vocals absolutely soar in this track. My only complaint is that it's too short, but it's definitely got me following Ms Vee to see what else she's doing. It's been a while since I heard a new voice that really got my attention and this track is a great way to finish out a set.
