Gil Scott-Heron died. A few days ago; I just found out. If you don't know Heron you almost certainly know "The revolution will not be televised", a line from one of his poems that has been embedded in the cultural consciousness.
Poet, singer, black panther, crack addict, prisoner. It's pretty safe to say that without him we would not have had rap music.
