What are your rules for living?

(By this I mean things that don't get taught in conventional schooling. I'm not talking about the obvious like "don't walk out in the street in front of moving cars.")

Do you mean "have a sense of (historical|global) perspective" which I sometimes sarcastically call the "Billion Chinese" rule? Or are you advocating a kind of detachment from your personal perspective?

Neither, I think. I mean something more like keep today's events in perspective relative to the rest of my life.
