So in the first statement it's the work that's more important than the outcome?

And the second it's the conversation that's more important than the people in the conversation?

I'm not sure I understand the latter. I can see a place for the first cause sometimes while you're processing, your end point, or goal can shift but... I'm not understanding.

No, it's in the first case it's the outcome that's more important. Where I ended up is more important than how I got here. Like, I don't care if you have the best route-following algorithm in the world - if you end up falling off a cliff that sucks.

In the second case, it's "why are you blindly following this series of steps without considering its impact on the people involved?" Like, (some people I won't mention) have a set of rules. Applying those rules over and over again without considering the individuals involved is awful.
