Work has been a lot of wait-wait-wait so I'm posty mcpostalot. Also, I finally had time to listen to Bootieblog's September Top 10. While I give some of their artists credit for innovative attempts, most of it fell short.
The original blog entry:
http://www.bootieusa.com/blog/2009/09/bootie-top-10-september-2009.htmlA lot of these are based on 70's and 80s tunes and I suspect your reaction to them may in part be based on how you feel about the underlying songs.
The four mixes I found worth a listen:

Rex (which Bootie incorrectly calls "glam rock" - yes they're classed that way, but the track here is "Bang a Gong," which I think is more straight-up rock and roll tune that directly homages Chuck Berry) and then mashing in the very modern Killers and Kings of Leon's southern rock.
http://djlobsterdust.com/mix/lobsterdust--CalabriHorseTonite.mp3DJ Lobsterdust turns in a five-way mash-up, four of whose components were unfamiliar to me. But he's got INXS in there, and some nice horn sounds that still work even when speeded up to a BPM rate that would give most horn players a heart attack.
http://www.madmixmustang.nl/mp3/I%20Got%20More%20Than%20A%20Feeling%20%5BLongVersion%5D.mp3Another one for MizA to avoid - it's a bizarre crash between old Boston and new Black Eyed Peas. There's absolutely no reason why this should work, but it somehow does.
http://audioporncentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/dj-schmolli-bulletproof-radar.mp3DJ Schmolli puts together the hot electro-pop of La Roux with the latest effort from Britney, who continues to try to do something that resembles music. Schmolli is pretty scathing, comparing the real thing with the wannabe and I have to agree.
Four out of ten isn't a bad score and as I said, some of the others might appeal to you as well. Next time we'll have new music from old favorites.
